Warm Leatherette covered by Trent Reznor and Peter Murphy

This was a song that used to be played on KROQ 106.7 back in the 1980's.  I had no idea that it was covered.  And, the new version is very good.

I am a fan of both NIN and Bauhaus.  I still like the original verson better which was created by The Normal.  But, the new version has a lot of energy to it.  It fits in with the type of feel that both NIN and Bauhaus share.

Original by The Normal:

The cover...

I found out about this by my friend on facebook.  He shared these videos, and I'm glad he did.

Blood Curdling Blog of Monster Masks: Early 60's Don Post Clown Masks

Trying out the blog this button found on a blog about Monster Masks:

Blood Curdling Blog of Monster Masks: Early 60's Don Post Clown Masks

They put an old photo of some people wearing clown masks, kinda scary.  I like old pics.

And, I'm just learning about Don Post by reading this blog, and watching youtube videos.  I always knew about the Don Post brand, but, I really didn't know much about his history.  And, I had only seen a few pics of some more recent Don Post masks.  I like the older ones better.  They have a classic look, and are a little more scary, and even wierd.

When I say I'm trying out the blog button, I'm talking about the buttons at the bottom that give you a choice to share the page to blogger, facebook, pinterest, twitter, google+ and email sharing.

Love Song for a Vampire

One of my favorite vampire movies is Bram Stroker's Dracula. "Love Song for a Vampire" is a song by Annie Lennox.

Back when the movie was being prommoted in theatres, I saw a trailer that had scenes from the movie with this song playing. I could never find that trailer anywhere. I have the DVD and the trailer I saw many years ago is not on there. But, the song is very good, and fits the theme of the movie.

A good friend of mine passed away in 2010, and she and I were casted as Vampires in a Haunted Attraction.

The guy that made the tribute video for her, used this song with slides of all of us as Vampires. He played it at her memorial. I wish I could get a copy of that.

You can listen to the song on my music page:

Lostboy Music Page

I bought the CD single when it first came out. It was about 7 dollars. But, I found it on Amazon for much more.  Maybe it's a rare CD, not sure:

But, you can always download it for cheap:

Listening to Music Update 2

Tried using Sony Acid Music Studio.  Way too complicated, and it's really made to create an individual song with instruments and looped samples.

So, I pulled up WavePad by NCH, and just attached songs together.  They say there is a crossfade feature, but, when I tried it, it just pushes the songs close to each other.  It's not a real crossfade like an analog mixer would be able to do.  Or, maybe a DJ virtual mixing application.  But, it's good enough for me to place a few songs together.

I'm uploading it now, and will have a page on my website for some listening music when it's done.

Listening to Music - update 1

I was messing around with Mixmeister, and I found something I don't like.  Well, it's perfect for DJ mixes.

But, if you want to make a mix tape of songs just in a row, it will try and match the beats automatically.  Which for this playlist, I don't want to do.  It is changing the speed of each song automatically.

So, I may try another program later.  Sony Music Studio.  Maybe since it is for making an actual song, it probably won't try to tweak the speed of each track.

Listening to Music

I have a DJ program called, "mixmeister".  It's made for making pre-recorded mixes to use at a party, for an excercise class, or anything where you would want a mix to be played.

I have used it to create DJ mixes, where you match the beats, but, you can just make an old fashioned mix tape style track with out matching the beats.  Just using a fade.

Since I have this website/blog now, I want to have a page of music that I listen to.  I'm thinking of using soundcloud, as I have heard many good mixes and mix tapes on there.  I already have a mix crate account which is specifically made for professional DJ's.  But, I don't know which would be better.

In soundcloud, anyone can download the mixes, but, in mixcrate, you have to sign up for a mixcrate account.  It's still free, but, some people might not want to add an account.  The graphics are better on mixcrate profiles for members, but, soundcloud seems more popular.

When I do decide, I will make a page on my website, lostboy.com.
